Outreach Center launches public service announcement campaign on key concerns
Billboards and web site www.kid-reach.org will spotlight child abuse prevention, poverty, learning disabilities and mental health
Brooklyn, NY, April 10, 2008 – The Outreach Center, a non-profit organization that provides funding and support for children’s charities nationally, has launched a Public Service announcement (PSA) campaign that will serve as a call to action and resource on four leading concerns about children—child abuse prevention, poverty, learning disabilities and mental health. The campaign—with the tagline Create Awareness—will appear on New York City billboards this month and resources will be available at www.kid-reach.org.
The campaign is being launched this month to coincide with Prevent Child Abuse Awareness Month. It has two key elements: public awareness ads, starting with billboards, and a web resource where individuals can go to find answers and access information from subject matter experts and governmental sources.
“Outreach Center has been providing funding to children’s charities for ten years, and this is an opportunity to raise awareness and provide program services to benefit children nationwide,” said Brooke McKay, Vice President of The Outreach Center. “This campaign is a fulfillment of the mission of the Outreach Center and a way to increase awareness about the issues that matter most to the programs we fund,” said McKay.
XtraGlobex, a strategic business development and communications firm, designed the campaign, including selecting the concerns to focus on and crafting the messages, tagline and web site content to position the Outreach Center as a resource on these important problems children face, not as subject matter experts.
“We now have creative in the learning disability, self-injury, suicide, poverty/hunger, and child abuse spaces,” said Fady B. Sahhar, XtraGlobex Partner and Outreach Center’s spokesperson. “All the messages are compelling to help raise the level of public involvement. Some are more jarring than others; all are impossible to ignore.”
The web site www.kid-reach.org will be dedicated to the issues selected for the PSA campaign. Each topic will have summaries, statistics and resource links.
The PSA campaign will start in the New York City area and roll into other lead markets in Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Los Angeles and San Francisco in the next few months.
